Rizwana Lala is a dentist, trained specialist in public health and academic. Her clinical public health portfolio includes dentistry, COVID-19, widening patient representation, and climate and sustainability within the National Health Service. Rizwana is a Muslim woman and her lived experiences in British healthcare and university institutions shapes her research analysis and public health perspectives. Her research on cosmetic dentistry shows how white supremacist and eugenic ideas still pervade everyday medical practice. In this project she is examining how public health research, policies and interventions are mired in the colonial legacies of sugar.Â
Olga Fuseini is an independent Roma consultant, activist and researcher associate at University of Sheffield. She has a BA in Politics and Sociology and years of experience in community development work. Olga took part in several research projects led by the University of Sheffield and well-known NGOs that advocate for Roma rights. Recently, she has been working with ONS to collect data on life experiences of Roma living in the UK. She is passionate about Roma integration and identifying policy problems impacting the Roma community and similar groups.
Sangeeta Kalia is an independent Research, Evaluation and Learning Consultant and Research Associate at the University of Sheffield. She holds an MA in Gender Studies and a particular passion for decolonial intersectional feminist methods. She has spent the last eleven years of her professional career advocating for and implementing these methods across the not-for-profit social justice sector. She has worked within the racial justice, gender justice, poverty and mental health sectors.
